The City, its center a web of bridges all built up on themselves, stradled the swirling, rushing waters of the City River. Fog hung over the city and muted the lights of distant oil lamps. Nia hated the fog and hated that she could barely remember the city as it was when she was a child. It had been just over a decade since the the Dark Empire crept into the city bringing the fog with it. Structurally the city was unchanged and was easily navigated. Even so, the place was nearly unrecognizable to her.
Nia wandered for what seemed like hours getting ever nearer her destination. Walking silently Nia gradually wandered towards the heart of River City. She was in a hurry, but needed the time this allowed so she could think of a way to deal with the added security. They knew she was coming, but Nia hoped her betrayer had not known her exact assignment.
