... album while on the subway and have it waiting here for her when she wanted it.

Britt suddenly perked up, "The album," he said aloud. Well, as "aloud" as you could in a virtual environment.

"What was that?" asked Officer Michaels.

"The album. Mrs," Britt squinted into the air in front of him, where the text read out was showing information, "Summers bought an album and was coming here to pick it up,"

"Yeah? So? Was it a good one?" asked Michaels.

Sometimes Britt wondered how Michaels had gotten as far as he had. He had a great mind for hard logic and pattern finding, which was the perfect blueprint for a Holocop, but sometimes common logic escaped him.

"If she came here, then the album is here. I didn't see it in the inventory, though." Britt said, squelching his frustrations.

Michaels tossed the thought around his head for a few moments, "Where could it be, then?" he finally asked.

Britt took his turn to mull over the situation. If she ordered the album on the subway, then she would have had plenty of time to come get it. Most playerPod Purchases are available for pickup within seconds, but the paperwork showed that she arrived almost a full hour after making the purchase.

"Deke," Britt said to the ceiling, "can you double check the inventory read out?"

"What am I looking for?" she replied.

"An album. The White Album." Britt replied, looking down to the virtual cadaver. The real one had likely been incinerated long before the current, holographic representation had been manifested.

"No dice," Deke said back after a few seconds, "I don't have any White Album."

"Then where the hell is it?" Michaels asked.

"Someone else must have picked it up," Britt replied, rubbing his forehead.

"But how? Only Jane Summers was authorized to get it. How could she have picked it up if she didn't have it on her?"

"Because this," Britt replied slowly while gesturing to the corpse, "is not Jane Summers."

I love writing. I'm working on a few novels at the moment (which I hope will be published someday) and find it easy to jump right into writing a new chapter in any given story. I look forward to collaborating with anyone and everyone on this site!
